The time has come....working on my bikini body & making my PT (personal best) on the up going races.
Yes, the last two weeks have been a challenge.
My workouts have awesome...lifting three-four times a week---back to jogging 6 days a week.
Have lost 3.6lbs.
My obsession is lifting heavy, but I have decided to cut back for the next 12 weeks and focus on my jogging.
In the past two weeks I attended two 5K runs. First was March 24th, Around the Bay 5K...time was 34 minutes 20 seconds. Second was yesterday April 6th, Jordon 5K..time was 33 minute 1second. They are slow by 'runners' standards but I am very happy with it. I have shaved off over 1 minute.
I realize heavy weight training, (I mean heavy, leg press 500lbs 150-200 reps...standing calf raises 465lbs 100 reps), doesn't work well with speed for jogging. I will never be a fast runner, nor do I want to be, I love weight training too much. But I do want to be able to run/jog a 5K race in 27-29 minutes...do a 10K in 54-58minutes....and do a half marathon in 2hours 15minutes.
So, this is my vow to myself---this is the year I will accomplish these goals.....I have reached (and surpass my leg press goal of 500lbs, top weight was 765lbs) now its time to change things up.
I look forward to the next three months...there will be rough days ahead, but at the end it will be all worth it :)
